August 24, 2003 - Snowmaking pipe nears completion, light installation begins... Crews are making great progress on snowmaking and night lighting work in the new Pistol complex. In all, nearly 4 ½ miles of new pipe has been installed, and over 150 new light fixtures are being erected as part of this project. Tatro Construction has completed the installation of all piping and valves on the mountain. These two photos how completed valve work on Gunsmoke and Shotgun. Remaining snowmaking work includes the installation of hydrants, installation of electrical boxes on Blundersmoke for fan guns, and installation of tower guns, all expected to be completed during September. Meanwhile... a crew from USA construction is installing light poles on new night ski terrain. As of Friday, August 19, they had installed about two thirds of the 67 poles required. Fixtures are being installed on the poles prior to setting to speed the wiring process. USA is also responsible for installing wiring for power to the summit, which begins on September 8,
